The work location is based in Clyde on a 4 week contact duration with scope of extension to 12.

Pay rate is between £16 - £21.50 per hour.

Candidates must hold or be willing an eligible to undergo SC Clearance

Job Summary

  • To undertake fabrication and structural activities on systems and equipment on all RN and other entitled Vessels and, when required, in other sections including the Estate. Includes the fitment of Auxiliary Support Equipment.
  • Enter the key responsibilities and accountabilities for this role
  • Completion of all Engineering Support work packages to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business and the continued availability and performance of Submarines, Surface Vessels and the Estate.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.

Experience and knowledge on the majority of the following:

  • HM Submarine and Ship Operating procedures
  • HM Submarine and Ship Tag-out procedures
  • Nuclear Procedures, Production Technical Instructions, Support Documentation
  • Submarine and surface ship systems and equipment
  • Relevant acceptance standards
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Relevant Quality Assurance documentation
  • COSHH & safe systems of work
  • Dosimetry procedures and controlled area working
  • Welding, fabrication and repair of components, including use of workshop machinery

Relevant Qualifications (would be preference to see most)

  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or Equivalent
  • N/SVQ Level 3 equivalent
  • NC or equivalent
  • Asbestos Awareness - Vessels
  • Confined Spaces for competent persons
  • Abrasive Wheels Regulations
  • Radiation Worker Training
  • Occasional Climber/Working At Heights
  • Slinging
  • Pristine Manual Handling
