Electrics Instructor - RAF Lyneham - Wiltshire

A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrics Instructor to join a FTSE 100 Organisation based in Wiltshire. This will be supporting the delivery of training course modules within the electrical department of the Defence School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) which is required for trainees in support of the Defence College of Technical Training Electro-Mechanical Training contract (DCTT EMTC) and Assisting with the technical administration of training and equipment.

Main Tasks

  • To prepare and deliver instruction on course modules in the Electrical Department in support of the DCTT EMTC including lesson plans, training aids, précis and student hand outs.
  • To prepare relevant training material, where necessary involving the Media and Graphics Department input to provide relevant Electrical Instructional Training.
  • Maintaining a personal Continuous Personal Development (CPD) portfolio in respect of new technologies and equipment, ensuring lesson plans are training sessions are developed in accordance with the approved Instructional Specifications; ISpec and Course Training Plans.
  • Assessment of trainees to include: creation of written examinations and progress test papers, creation of practical assessment / examination scenarios and continuous assessments. Marking of examination papers, setting and marking of course and homework and invigilation of examinations and assessments.

Technical Experience and Qualifications (Essential)

  • Supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant working environment

Technical Experience and Qualifications (Desirable)

  • BSC Level 1 Working Safely
  • Either BSC Level 2 Supervising Staff Safely OR IOSH Managing Safely
  • Minimum CGLI City & Guilds Part 3, NVQ L3, Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (heavy automotive vehicle, plant machinery, and electrical machinery) technical discipline or equivalent military qualifications, gained as Class1 REME Vehicle Electrician, Electronics Technician, or similar RN/RAF trade
  • Completed the full Defence Train the Trainer suite of modules, with Care of Trainees Course, City & Guilds Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Knowledge of military environment and equipment
  • Knowledge of the REME trade Structure and operational requirements. Especially relevant to the Electrical Department

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Able to coach and mentor students to achieve their best
