Electrical Technical Lead



The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Electrical Technical Lead to join a leading Global Defence Technology & Security Organisation, based in Portsmouth.


  • You will working at their facility working on military maritime equipment and will be responsible for supporting the installation and de-installation of equipment, via design, test and maintenance of the electrical installations, thus supporting the undertaking of trials within the facility.
  • You will be leading a team of electricians and electrical fitters which form part of the group 'Controls, Systems and Instrumentation'. In addition, they will lead all electrical engineering and electrical maintenance activities of the Facility's system infrastructure.
  • You will be assisting in ensuring that the configuration of all relevant electrical drawings and installation drawing packages are maintained and up to date in conjunction with internal stakeholders.
  • You will be engaging with the relevant stakeholders in the generation of Risk Assessments and Methods Statements (RAMS) for the determination of a safe system of work.
  • You will be maintaining an excellent working knowledge / awareness of electrical legislative standards and technical requirements / developments.


  • Knowledge of the following regulations: BS7671 3rd Amendment, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, JSP (Joint Service Publications) 375 (Electrical parts)
  • Knowledge and experience in design, installation and test of industrial electrical installations involving multiple voltage and frequencies. The voltages and frequencies present are: 12, 24, 50VDC, 230VAC 50Hz, 400VAC 50Hz, 110VAC 50Hz, 110VAC 60Hz, 440VAC 60Hz.
  • Must be able to Work at heights when required to do so (working at height training will be provided where required).
  • Experience of Line Management
  • Competent in the use of Amtec Pro Design software
  • C&G 2396 (or equivalent) Design and Verification of Electrical Systems.
  • C&G 2382 BS7671 - 17TH Edition (as amended)
  • C&G 2391 or 2394 / 5 Testing & Inspection
