Early Careers Manager

£45-55k plus package


Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client a leading Engineering Support Services organisation for an individual to join their L&D function to manage and support the existing team and take a strategic role in the delivery of their "Early Careers" service across their functional business areas.

The main responsibilities of this role are as follows -

  • Deliver, articulate and drive successful apprentice and graduate programmes, ensuring a strong pipeline of talent is being developed to ensure future growth in-line with corporate strategy
  • Build strong relationships with the key stakeholders within the business, HR, L&D and wider industry such as training partners, government bodies, professional institutes etc
  • Work with the existing Advisors / Coordinators to ensure there is a joined up apprenticeship and graduate programme for the site which supports the business goals - including measurement, tacking and monitoring of employees progress against the desired outcomes
  • Act as line manager for Apprentice & Graduate programmes for the duration of their "learning / rotational phases"
  • Ensure return on investment / expectation and evaluate the effectiveness of the programmes including the external interface with colleges and other educational providers
  • Develop a close working relationship with all key stakeholders in the talent management and succession planning processes; gaining sponsorship, buy in and involvement
  • Work with L&D colleagues in other sites / business units to ensure a consistent approach to developing talent across the organisation

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Significant experience in managing early talent / apprenticeship / graduate development programmes
  • Knowledge of the SFA or other skills funding and able to assess organisational impact and build a robust plan to draw funding
  • Experience and evidence of working at a strategic level delivering high performance through inspiring leadership
  • Prior experience working with Senior Management in a commercial organisation
  • Demonstrate experience of maintaining an effective pipeline of talent within a business
  • CIPD qualified ideally chartered
  • Able to manage, coach and mentor direct reports
  • Candidates will ideally have worked within Engineering, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas or similar industry and be aware of the importance of STEM skills within these industries
  • Flexible for occasional UK business travel as required
  • Demonstrate genuine passion and motivation to deliver best practice within Early Careers programmes
