DevOps Engineer

The work location is in Leeds and is a 3 Month contract paying £450-600 Per Day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with software engineering teams to remove technical impediments and roadblocks.
  • Ensuring software build and release pipelines are effective and reliable.
  • Performing active configuration management across production and non-production platforms.
  • Applying software upgrades and patches across our infrastructure.
  • Working with software engineering teams to provide effective monitoring and alerting solutions for applications.
  • Helping to define strategies for CD, CI, patching, monitoring & infrastructure management.
  • Contributing to the wider teams non-functional strategies (security, capacity, performance etc.).
  • Liaising with internal & external infrastructure management teams.

Required Experience

  • Experience in defining & leading adoption of Dev Ops strategies within a team.
  • Experience of software development & deployment in a commercial environment.
  • In depth knowledge of Unix operating systems, primarily RedHat & CentOS.
  • Experience of common infrastructure and application monitoring platforms (e.g. Nagios, Opsview, Graphite, Observium).
  • Knowledge of common CI/CD build & release tooling.
  • Understanding of common security vulnerabilities.
  • Significant skills in shell-scripting.
  • Strong grasp of application containerisation.
  • In-depth experience of networking principles & related security mechanisms.
  • An understanding of non-functional requirements (e.g. Performance optimisation, scalability, security, reliability).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Cloudfoundry, Heroku, AWS, Azure etc.).
  • Fundamental understanding of key web protocols (HTTP, DNS, HTTP2).
  • Experience working with high volume, fast, reliable mobile & web platforms.
  • Experience working with CDNs.
  • Understand the key values and principles of Agile.
