Desktop Support Technician (Security Controls) required to join an information security technology company based in Edinburgh on a 6 month contract.

The role:
As part of your role, you will help users resolve technical issues using in-depth diagnostic work. You will also perform systems management troubleshooting and issue resolution with related hardware and software components.

You must understand and apply security practices and possess a working knowledge of applicable industry controls such as NIST 800-53.

Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting internal user workstations, peripherals, phones and PDAs
  • The maintenance and repair of workstations and peripheral devices, in-depth troubleshooting and component replacement.
  • Ensuring compatibility with existing software and hardware components by installing and configuring operating systems, applications and client/server software
  • Supporting MS Office suite applications and back office application connectivity
  • Documentation of technical support requests, production changes, follow-up and resolution
  • Escalating outstanding issues when required and working with 3rd party vendors



Key Skills

  • At least 3 to 4 years' of end user support in a Windows environment
  • Desktop OS imaging (MS RIS, etc.)
  • Asset Management experience
  • Windows 7/10 OS support experience and Microsoft Office 2010/2016 support experience
  • Competence with remote/VPN connectivity
  • Competence with workstation network connectivity, expert network printer troubleshooting

  • Active Directory
  • iOS and Android mobile device support
  • Desktop virtualization technologies (VMWare Workstation/ Oracle VirtualBox)
  • Linux support (optional, but preferred)
  • Mac Support (optional)
  • VMware experience (optional)
  • Office 365 (optional)
