Desktop Support Technician (Security Controls) required to join an information security technology company based in Edinburgh on a 6 month contract. The role: As part of your role, you will help users resolve technical issues using in-depth diagnostic work. You will also perform systems management troubleshooting and issue resolution with related hardware and software components. You must understand and apply security practices and possess a working knowledge of applicable industry controls such as NIST 800-53. Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include:Supporting internal user workstations, peripherals, phones and PDAsThe maintenance and repair of workstations and peripheral devices, in-depth troubleshooting and component replacement.Ensuring compatibility with existing software and hardware components by installing and configuring operating systems, applications and client/server softwareSupporting MS Office suite applications and back office application connectivityDocumentation of technical support requests, production changes, follow-up and resolutionEscalating outstanding issues when required and working with 3rd party vendorsKey SkillsAt least 3 to 4 years' of end user support in a Windows environmentDesktop OS imaging (MS RIS, etc.)Asset Management experienceWindows 7/10 OS support experience and Microsoft Office 2010/2016 support experienceCompetence with remote/VPN connectivityCompetence with workstation network connectivity, expert network printer troubleshootingDesirable SkillsActive DirectoryiOS and Android mobile device supportDesktop virtualization technologies (VMWare Workstation/ Oracle VirtualBox)Linux support (optional, but preferred)Mac Support (optional)VMware experience (optional)Office 365 (optional)If this position is of interest to you, please apply at the first instance.
