Demilitarisation Disposals Manager- Competitive Salary - Essex

A leading Defence and Security Consultancy are seeking an experienced Demilitarisation Disposals Manager to work on a permanent basis in Southend-on-sea.

Within this will be reporting into the Demil Operations TL and will be responsible for the safe conduct of all Demilitarisation Tasks and Processes involving the disposal of explosive stores.

Demilitarisation is a continuous Ordnance Munitions and Explosives (OME) service operation delivered under the Long Term Partnering Agreement with MOD, delivering safe disposal of life expired munitions, certification as Free From Explosive Hazard of packaging and recovery and recycling of brass recovered from spent munitions.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the operational priorities for demilitarisation OBOD tasks and ensuring they are sufficiently resourced with appropriate supervision

  • Responsible for all Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) within the demilitarisation OBOD stream including current disposal techniques and safe development of new techniques as the demand arises

  • Responsible for continued personal technical competence and currency to conduct demilitarisation tasks

  • Responsible for liaison with the Egineering Manager to ensure that the maintenance activities of all demilitarisation facilities and plant takes place taking account of production requirements and maintenance regimes.

Qualification/ Skills & Attributes:

  • Hold Ammunition Technical Officer/Ammunition Technician Class 1 qualification or equivalent with proven experience in demilitarisation of explosives

  • In-depth understanding of range operations and constraints.

  • Detailed knowledge of EOD disposals planning and range safety procedures.

  • Awareness of range planning safety tools.

  • Working knowledge of the MOD end-user structures
