Our client, a leading Insurance company, is looking for a DataStage Technical Lead to join their team.

This is a contract position based in Guildford running for an initial 3 months.

Enterprise Data Warehouse Programme

  • Senior technical role reporting to the Technical Design Authority
  • Lead the creation of a new strategic ETL and data quality capability

Main Duties:

  • Design and implementation of a new staging and data management environment
  • Specifying and applying DataStage ETL standards and processes
  • Agreeing data interface contracts with operational source systems
  • Agreeing and implementing business transformation rules with data owners
  • Prepare database-loadable files for the data warehouse
  • Manage data quality and quarantine, enforcing data quality SLAs with source system provider & data stewards.
  • Enforce lineage and contribute technical metadata on source systems and transformation rules applied
  • Liaise with Data Warehouse Database administrator to ensure successful loading of the warehouse
  • Mentor and upskill new and existing staff
  • Define Data Stage & Quality Stage Technical Requirements with reference to the toolset and IT processes to support the toolset
  • Define the Data Stage & Quality Stage Service Support Model and people skill sets and structure of the support model

Key Skills:

  • Experienced IBM DataStage ETL Warehouse application programmer/specialist (5+ years)
  • Senior (possibly leadership) role helping create large integrated enterprise data warehouse
  • Self-starter able to work in complex and fast moving environment
  • IBM Quality Stage Data Quality Tool Experience
  • Strong background in Relational and OLAP Warehouse Construction
  • Leveraging Enterprise Data Models
  • Ability to work with Data Steward & Information Architects
  • Understands warehouse data modelling and design approaches (relational v dimensional)
  • Able to make design decisions and trade-offs
  • Strong team player and communicator
  • Able to influence business stakeholders and other IT professionals at all levels
