About the role

Here in Babcock International we're looking for a Data Engineer to join an expanding Data, BI and Analytics team. As part of a major change within Business Intelligence and Analytics, you will be part of a team building a strong in house-capability to enhance the existing traditional business BI/Analytics, as well as growing the capability to support high end analytics within Big Data, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

You'll be managing, designing and supporting the various BI platforms, including the existing BI platforms as well as new ones based on Hadoop, Docker and Python. You will be an important member of the team in making sure all big data applications are available and performing as expected.

Training and support will be provided to allow you to learn the necessary skills to fulfil the position.

What do I need to do the role?

Some knowledge or experience of Hadoop is important for this role, however working knowledge will be enough with the view to progress you in this area. Preferably experience in supporting Microsoft SQL 2016 or above, and working in information-intensive industries is also a bonus. Other relevant skillsets include Spark, Storm, NoSQL databases, Middlewares and messaging systems and scripting.

What else do I need to know about the role?

  • You will work a 37.5 hour week Monday-Friday with flexible start and finish times
  • All applicants must have or be able to obtain SC security clearance
