A Bank Institution is currently recruiting a Credit Quality Assurance Manager to boost their 2nd line of defence. They have an experienced Risk team in their Reading office and this individual will maintain effective credit risk oversight of the Bank's lending portfolios, alongside manage and independently undertake credit reviews across all their product lines.

  • Undertake quality assurance reviews in line with the agreed review plan, including qualitative reviews of individual lending decisions for both new and renewed business (including Risk Appetite), select (sub)portfolios as well as the effectiveness of the 1st line's Quality Control testing environment
  • Undertake hindsight reviews of any credit exposures that resulted in a material credit risk loss to the bank, providing learnings and recommendations to the business
  • Produce written reports reflecting the results of these reviews, raising issues as appropriate, and tracking of agreed remedial actions within agreed timelines
  • Develop, manage and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Undertake presentations on results of reviews to senior management as well as to the wider business and 1st line Risk to enhance credit risk management and awareness and advocating underwriting excellence across the bank
  • Provide input into Group Risk credit policies and recommend areas of improvement as well as oversight of any new or materially amended new product or policy proposals
  • Completion of ad hoc projects and reviews as required

The successful candidate will have significant credit risk experience in commercial finance and mortgages, gained in a 1st line Risk capacity, having held a sizeable individual mandate (£5m+).

Previous experience in a credit risk / credit quality assurance or 2nd line oversight role would be desirable.
