Costing Engineer (Cost Estimation) - Coventry with travel - Initial 6-month contract

Our client in the utilities industry requires a Costing Engineer (Cost Estimation) to join their team based in Coventry with occasional travel to other sites, on an initial 6-month contract with the view to extend.

The role:

  • You will be working within a price control team and will be responsible for providing the costing for assets to support investment decisions for the client's asset base and the asset performance.



Key Skills
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of Quantity Surveying, Cost Estimation codes and practices
  • Hands-on experience of the application of Standard Methods of Measurement within the construction industry
  • At least 3 to 5 years' experience of scoping engineering solutions
  • A strong competency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
  • A methodical and accurate approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Relevant Cost Estimating/Assurance experience or a degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying
  • Strong organisational, verbal and written communication skills


Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the effective delivery of the client's investment programmes and informing the business plan submission by providing top quality cost assurance service.
  • Preparing and checking cost estimates for capital investment needs by scoping and engineering proposed solutions.
  • Leading a workstream area with a value of approximately £100 million per year.
  • Building and maintaining an effective relationship with stakeholders.
  • Developing an effective scoping and estimating system for the investment activity and asset health.
  • Contributing to scoping solutions and attending issue review stakeholder meetings.
  • Assuring delivery target costs and budgets.
  • Collating, identifying and providing information required to cost delivery.
  • Supporting risk modelling scenarios and Cost Benefit Analysis tools and improving the asset data.
  • Identifying and quantifying industry best practice, making recommendations and remediation to balance risk exposure and maximise business value.


Background Screening:
You should be willing to undergo any screening checks carried out by the client. Once on site, you will need to undergo adhoc alcohol and drugs tests.
