Commercial Officer


Up to £40,000 per annum

We are looking to recruit a Commercial Officer to work for the UKs leading Engineering and Support Services organisation based from regional headquarters in Rosyth.

You will be required to provide commercial support, including developing the commercial strategy for specific projects or contracts by maintaining and maximising profitability and, to provide support to various stakeholders on general commercial matters.

Main responsibilities for this role will be to support prime and subcontract management from the tendering process through to contract management and close out.

e are involved in a range of Projects, running a variety of commercial and Ministry of Defence Contracts and are looking for an experienced Commercial Officer looking to progress their career and join our team. You will have an excellent ability to read and understand contract clauses, you will have an in depth understanding of contract price build ups and proven experience managing contractual relationships between clients, customers and contractors and be adept at communicating to all levels within the business.

The Commercial Officer will be based in Rosyth, working a 4.5-day working week


  • Assist with commercial input and guidance in support of tendering activities to ensure compliance with corporate requirements
  • Prepare subcontract ITT's, evaluate tenders, make recommendations and place subcontracts within delegated levels of authority
  • Ensure that tenders and contracts are conducted in accordance with commercial policies and processes in order to achieve profitable and compliant contracts
  • Negotiate prime and subcontract agreements to achieve best value and lowest risk proposition for both prime and subcontracts
  • Deliver a commercial service to a project or series of projects by undertaking commercial aspects of prime and subcontracts (including payment and claims) throughout the execution and close out phases
  • Act as the commercial representative and provide advice for all contractual, commercial and governance issues for Babcock, the Customer and supplier throughout the respective prime or subcontract lifecycle
  • Support and develop junior/less experienced team members
  • Deliver an effective commercial service within delegated financial levels of authority

This position requires an individual who understands the commercial contracting lifecycle and framework and is able to implement that understating to achieve successful commercial outcomes

Qualifications & Experience

Degree or equivalent in Law, Quantity Surveying, or Business.

  • Expert analysis of terms, agreements and contracts
