Commercial Manager - Defence/Engineering


Permanent - Salary negotiable & dependent on experience

The Role

This is a demanding individual contributor role with responsibility for providing commercial support to a diverse portfolio of projects from initial opportunity identification through to contract completion.

You will be responsible for all aspects of commercial support including customer bidding and contracting, export and import control, risk management, change control, contract and document drafting, and dispute resolution.

You will be a senior member of a dynamic commercial team led by an experienced Commercial Director, where your hard work and professional experience will be expected to generate innovative commercial solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Business Development and project teams to structure, negotiate and close compelling customer contracts to both commercial and defence markets
  • Provides comprehensive support and advice on contractual and commercial matters relevant to all market areas.
  • Ensures that the Business follows governance and establishes commercial best practice appropriate to the Business
  • Works closely with other functions (IP, Legal, Insurance, Risk, Contracts, Projects, and Bid Management) to manage these aspects of the projects
  • Drafts, negotiates and manages NDAs, MoUs, Teaming Agreements, TAAs and Shareholder Agreements.

Role Requirements

  • A proven track record of structuring, negotiating and closing deals
  • A significant record of commercial management
  • Previous experience of providing relevant advice on all commercial aspects of transactions and agreements.
  • Used to managing NDAs, TAAs, Teaming Agreements, MoUs and Shareholder Agreements
  • Used to working with financial information and is aware of financial impacts on bids/contracts/projects.
  • Previous experience of working with Business Development teams

You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic person with strong work ethic. You will have excellent English language oral and written skills, be highly numerate, and have a lively and personable character. MCIPS or IACCM Qualification helpful.

Travel throughout the UK and possibly overseas is possible.
