Job Description / Person Specification

You'll be responsible for the technical design, implementation and operations of public cloud environment, advising and shaping technical best practices with our multi-disciplinary team. The role will involve working in conjunction with architects, product owners, systems engineers and other business stakeholders to deliver assigned project tasks

We're looking for an experienced Architect to help implement designs to ensure security, scalability and robustness of all created service, as well as advise on scope, interfaces and estimate project development effort. Collaborating with with other engineers across the organisation, you'll provide consistent and novel ways of working, design patterns and cross-team working. This role will be working across two key large-scale programmes for MoD / Government customers where you'll work with a wide range of Cloud technologies and be involved in security projects within the Cloud space.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience as an Architect for cloud infrastructure or cloud-hosted software
  • Understanding and experience of emerging cloud services and data architectures
  • Experience in working in an agile software development environment
  • Use of DevOps CI/CD practices
  • Knowledge of AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of architecture, development and operation of critical systems within a DevOps environment
  • Analytical and root cause analysis skills

Desirable

  • AWS or Azure certification
  • Previous experience with MOD, agency and customers with sensitive information
  • Experience working with a number of agile workflow tools including: JIRA, Confluence, Agile
  • Good use and understanding of tooling such as Git, Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Experience at working with agile at scale using frameworks such as SAFe or LeSS
