Chief Engineer , FTSE 100 Engineering Organisation.

I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a FTSE 100 Engineering Organization involved in some of the world's most challenging engineering projects across the U.K and internationally. This particular role functions within the Marine and Technology division and has been created to support the high profile MSSP Contract on the type 45 and QEC platforms.

We are currently looking to recruit 4 Chief Engineers to oversee and successfully lead an engineering team covering one of the following 4 areas: Power and Propulsion, Environmental Domestic and habitability, mechanical and Constructive, and Platform Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and effective outputs, advice and recommendations to support the delivery of safe, capable and available Systems and Equipment.
  • Ensure Systems and Equipment performance, availability, design intent, configuration, obsolescence and safety are managed and maintained
  • Develop and maintain an effective, collaborative Technical Authority (TA), integrating Key Support Partners and fostering a team approach.
  • Provide proactive and supportive TA services to the MSSP Customer.
  • Work collaboratively with the SAA, EAAs, WTAs and OEMs.
  • Apply Engineering governance to Systems and Equipment technical outputs, applying a System of Systems approach to ensure integration with PS, MSSP and other systems.
  • Develop and sustain team capability to deliver and improve MSSP services
  • Apply and adhere to the appropriate engineering, environmental & safety standards, policies and processes, supporting the development of STA policies and processes.
  • Promote a safety culture of open reporting, bringing issues to the attention of Approving and Technical Authorities, Duty Holders, Users and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Exercise a duty of care for health and safety to all.


  • A Chartered Engineer, registered with an appropriate body
  • Demonstrable experience with relevant systems
  • Experience in a technical leadership role in the design or support of engineering assets.
  • Proven competence in the engineering management of systems and transversals.
  • Experience in the engineering management of Complex Warship or in the maritime domain is highly desirable.
