The work location is in MILTON KEYNES and is a 2 YEAR FIXED TERM contract.

Pay rate is between £73,000 PER ANNUM.

The role is working for a well-established, multinational education provider.


Finance have been engaged in a transformation programme for the last year, working to implement a new operating model. This will bring together Finance staff from around the organisation into a single Finance and Business Services function with consistent processes and ways of working. The organisation will launch Business Partnering teams, Finance specialist teams (Centres of excellence) and a Financial Services Centre in August- September 2019.

The organisation's Finance systems are a combination of in-house, bespoke systems and customised systems which have been in place for a long time and do not meet the current needs of the organisation. They have recently completed the selection process to procure a new Finance solution and an implementation partner to provide Enterprise systems for HR, Finance and Student administration.

The client is now about to embark in the next phase of Finance Transformation which will involve implementing the new organisation structure as well as the new Finance System. They are looking for a Training & Development specialist to develop the Finance team in readiness for new ways of working including the transition to the new Finance and Business Services operation model, adoption of the new technology and a renewed focus on customer service.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Conduct skills gap and training gap analysis to support design of interventions which will equip the Finance and Business Services teams with the right skills, knowledge and capability
  • Responsible for mapping capability requirements for new and updated roles in Finance and Business Services
  • Responsible for preparing training needs analysis for all Finance and Business Services teams.
  • Working with key stakeholders to understand the requirements and ongoing strategic aims to translate into effective delivery plans
  • Prepare the training strategy for Finance and Business Services and Finance related systems (in consultation with the CSR Training manager)
  • Defining learning interventions for the Finance and Business Services teams
  • Managing the preparation / Commissioning of training materials
  • Manage the delivery of learning activities to the Finance and Business Services community
  • Provide individual coaching activity to certain specified roles
  • Provide regular updates to the Finance Senior Leadership Team; Finance Transformation Lead; and the Finance Transformation program manager
  • Schedule training sessions, organise information technology and other equipment, and manage course enrolment

Key skills and experience

Qualifications: degree or equivalent, ideally CIPD level

Industry Experience: Higher education/public sector

  • Experience of training for adoption of new Finance systems
  • Experience of management development and a variety of training and development techniques
  • Experience of creating team building interventions
  • Creative thinker with the ability to work on own initiative
