Calibration Project Engineer

A market leading FTSE 100 Defence organisation is currently recruiting for a Calibration Project Engineer to take on permanent positions ASAP. The company is highly regarded for its employee recognition and vital position in today's market place. You will be a driven individual who is looking to work in a fast paced environment with supportive team in a diverse and challenging environment.

As a member of the Electrical Calibration team, you will be required to carry out an extensive range of administration duties in support of the calibration process. It is essential to demonstrate efficient and effective management of all activities as associated with the calibration process to validate conformity with BS EN ISO 10012 & 17025. Thereby underpinning the overall quality of company output, and significantly contributing to overall product safety.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • To maintain the company calibration recall system and initiate regular equipment recall notices.
  • To create , issue, and schedule calibration production paperwork in line with customer requirements
  • Collate and file calibration documentation and resultant Calibration Certificates & records
  • To create & maintain subcontracted equipment database / spreadsheet, and billing , act as primary point of contact / interface with Subcontractor.
  • To act as primary liaison / interface between Calibration facility and all interested parties
  • Initiate procurement via IFS in support of the calibration facility
  • Develop & Raise Commercial quotes
  • Provide General administrative support.
  • As and when required , to create ad-hoc spreadsheets to report calibration activity
  • To assist with and where applicable co-ordinate / undertake relief receipt & dispatch activities.
  • To undertake role of deputy Building Controller.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences

  • Ability to work with the customer and subcontractors in a collaborative environment
  • A working knowledge of Fluke METTRACK or a similar inventory based software utility, used to control , recall , and maintain assets
  • Meticulous record keeping
  • A good eye for detail with practical experience working within a quality driven environment, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of BS EN ISO 10012 & 17025 and subsequent Calibration activities.
  • General familiarity with PC based utilities such as MS Word , Excel, Access and company processes IFS, and PEPS
  • Capable of working independently to schedule with minimal supervision as part of the calibration team.
  • Broad understanding of electrical calibration requirements, although training can be provided.


  • Time served Electrical / Instrumentation Apprenticeship (desirable)
  • ONC or equivalent in Science / Engineering (desirable)
  • Good communication skills
