Buyer - Bids & Programmes

Hampshire

A Leading Sciences and Engineering company are recruiting for a Buyer within their Procurement team working on Bidding and Programmes, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder interaction & engagement as well as working closely with bid and project teams.

The Buyer role will be accountable for the ownership and execution of the subcontracting plan, incorporating preparation of the procurement strategy and documents, sourcing, negotiation, data collection and analysis and, managing communication with suppliers and internal customers.

Responsibilities include -

  • Execution of sourcing plans, especially implementation of change programs involving new suppliers or spend practice.
  • Seeking & harnessing innovative solutions from existing and future supply chain partners.
  • Managing prime contractor interfaces, risk mitigation (i.e. flow-up/down arrangements within prime contract) and flexibility within supply chain.
  • Developing strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Travel and attend meetings, as required within UK or internationally
  • Providing advice and guidance on best practice sourcing to the organisation
  • Ensuring the provision of accurate cost information
  • Keeping up-to-date with customers' priorities, needs and expectations

Requirements and experience needed -

  • Relevant business degree (desirable) or equivalent intellectual status
  • Previous knowledge and experience within bidding, is desirable
  • Practical experience on use of procurement systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Able to adapt pace of delivery to meet business requirements
