We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join a leading engineering business based in Portsmouth on initially a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

You will be working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven people.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring appropriate Contract Terms and Conditions are applied to all Contracts (including Sub-Contract and Purchase Orders) placed
  • Managing and executing the processing and placement of Contracts in sufficient time to meet the required delivery date, ensuring that the best total acquisition cost is achieved
  • Participating in Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management or Capability Development initiatives, supporting the development of the Company's Supply Chain and Procurement strategy in line with Corporate or Business Unit objectives
  • Analysing procurement spends and seeking to introduce the most reliable cost effective procurement route to suit each circumstance or group of circumstances
  • Sourcing suitable suppliers.

Qualification/ Skills & Attributes:

  • Hold a recognised degree qualification (or equivalent).
  • Be a Member of a relevant professional body, for example the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply at a Level 5 or above (preferred).
  • Have an appropriate level of knowledge in supply chain and procurement of goods/services.
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge and application of good commercial business practice.
  • Have a proven track record of effective people management and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a willingness to work in different areas of the business as the business need requires.
