My client, a well known engineering company based in Fareham, is currently seeking a Business Facing Change Accountant to join their finance team on a 6 month contract.
You should ideally be immediately available, or on a maximum of 2 week's notice.
You will need to pass security clearance ahead of starting this role.

General Description

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the primary responsibility of the role is to provide support to the Finance team during a period of transition driven by:
· Implementation of a new ERP system - SAP
· Realignment activity in Group reporting structure
· Working directly for the Business Facing Finance Manager as part of the finance team and liaising closely with the reporting functions within the Finance team members and ERP implementation team.

Main Tasks

· To assist in defining the implications of operating within an ERP system for the Business Unit and in presenting how it will impact the specific Business Unit directly.
· To establish, implement and support new process, to enable the Business Facing Finance team to provide, timely & accurate financial reporting within a new ERP environment.
· To reconcile the output data from the new ERP to legacy financial reporting systems during a period of parallel running, including:
o Legacy Project codes to SAP Cost Centres to WBS
o Under / over absorptions
o Balance sheet accounts
o P&L impact
· To utilise and further define, refine and / or produce Management Information from within both reporting the ERP and Business Warehouse applications, with the aim to establishing governance and decision making as a result of it.
· To establish and support the transition of 'Estimate At Completion' statements from legacy accounting formats to the new ERP format
· To design and create and implement new Time and Attendance reporting, to enable management to track and govern the submission of times, to understand the implications of standard costing and review variance analysis against budget and forecast.
· To advise and support the implications, requirements and formats for future Forecasts & Budgets
· Responsibility for establishing a process for periodic update of EAC's maintained within SAP as directed by Project Accountants.
· To create and / or amend ERP, Business Warehouse and Excel reporting to support management information requirements including and not limited to:
o EAC Management
o Management Accounting
o Working Capital analysis
o Orderbook Reporting
o Control & Assurance Scorecard
o Short Term Cashflow Reporting
o Quarterly Contract Reviews
· To populate and / or ensure the population of new Financial Reporting documents under the Marine sector with Business Unit data as required.
· To consider potential new processes to meet new Group Sector reporting requirements and to design and implement where necessary
· To support the Business Facing Finance Manager and or Head of Finance with adhoc requests as required during transition period.
· Any other projects as directed by Business Facing Finance Manager and or Head of Finance

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

· SAP Project Management / accounting / implementation experience
· SAP Reporting and Business Warehouse Reporting experience
· Recognised professional qualification ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
· Experience of bid/tender production and processes
· Experience Contract compliance and governance
· Ability to ensure deadlines and target are achieved or surpassed
· Proven experience of analysing and interpreting financial information
· Track record of the ability to manage contract performance to budget and forecast, and using excellent written & oral skills, providing sound variance analysis
· Significant experience of commercial issues and corporate awareness in relation to costs, risk, margins and business opportunities.
· Up-to-date working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
· Has appropriate financial and management accounting experience within public or private commercial organisations
· Excellent time management skills, particularly evident in the ability to cope with simultaneous contract accounting and bid requirements.
· Ability to assess business risks, issues and mitigating actions, with experience of implementing such actions.
· Use of business warehouse or equivalent reporting tool
· Experience of Long Term accounting and establishing the correct revenue recognition across existing and new business
· ERP and Business Warehouse interface and interpretation
· Ability to identify trends from information available from multiple sources.
· Data analysis skills in support of a reporting and variance analysis.
· Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
· Experience of SAP ERP and Navision
