We currently have an opportunity for a Bid Manager working for the UKs leading Engineering and Support Services Business to be based in Aberdeen.

The organisation provide support services to the offshore Oil & Gas which includes critical, complex and bespoke crew change services in the North Sea, transporting over 215,000 passengers to oil and gas platforms annually.

The role of the Bid Manager will be to lead the bid function and manage the bid team so assigned. The Bid Manager requires experience in bid management and proposal management, which requires a sound commercial analytical background together with demonstrated cost modelling experience. They will assist with aspects of bid management work in the wider UK business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective delivery of all bids (includes bids of up to £100m)
  • Contribute to pre-bid research and capture planning
  • Manage production of pre-qualification documentation
  • Ensure consistency of approach across a multi-function team while achieving milestones within the bid process
  • Matrix Management of internal resources to ensure all areas of the bid are correctly represented e.g. Commercial, Engineering, Safety & Quality, Finance, HR
  • Project manage the day to day bid effort, including governance, solution development and bid production, ensuring adherence to customer schedule and target costs
  • Manage bid approvals in line with the Group's corporate governance policies, processes and procedures
  • Create and maintain a risk register for every bid in line with Company processes; understand competitor tactics and behaviour to shape the proposal and mitigate risks
  • Assist with and manage the development of the technical, commercial and financial solution as the bid progresses with the relevant SMEs.
  • Ensure effective upward communication on levels of risk being taken in bid approaches and potential risks.
  • Challenge the status-quo on our bid approaches to consistently deliver better savings and efficiencies than our competitors
  • Run de-briefs following each bid process to discuss learning points and implement agreed actions
  • On award of a contract, work with the wider company in supporting the transition, ensuring full understanding of the contract and customer expectations

Qualifications / Training

Essential:

College/university education in a related field

Preferred:

Commercial marketing and /or project management qualifications

Experience / Knowledge

Essential:

  • Extensive bid management experience preferably gained in Technical or Mission and Safety Critical support services but not essential
  • Core competencies in bid management, leading and influencing
  • Commercial astuteness
  • Commercial analytical experience
  • Cost modelling experience
  • Contract review experience

Preferred:

  • Extensive experience preferably gained in Aviation or Mission and Safety Critical support services
  • Track record of contract renewal and new business win rates.
  • Strategic thinking
