I am recruiting an experienced Business Strategy Manager to work with a FTSE 100 Engineering Support Services Organisation. You will join a team that forms part of the strategic development department which is responsible for developing and driving the overall business strategy.

You will play a critical role in supporting the Development and Implementation of the Naval Marine Ship Building Campaign Strategy. Including developing the strategy, supporting business cases, resource planning to support each phase of the campaign and implementation planning and execution.

You will also support the bid-proposal preparation and planning following the business winning process to ensure proposals reach the highest professional standards and be responsible for developing appropriate relationships with internal and external parties to help develop opportunities and winning submissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile edit, and proof read proposals which contain technical content and designs ensuring that these are presented in a professional and concise manner
  • Ensure that the campaign objectives and strategies are fully understood and articulated within the plans.
  • Assist in the development of processes for Naval Marine reporting.
  • Take responsibility for and manage the implementation of various initiatives ensuring the agreed programme is delivered, on time and to cost.
  • Ensure campaign has clear metrics and is achieving appropriate return on investment in line with corporate strategic goals.
  • Routinely produce and evaluate management information.
  • Ensure that the status of campaign is communicated effectively at the executive level with regular updates and sign offs.
  • Produce and maintain communications plans, critical path analysis and key event plans.
  • Assess and report on risk associated with achievement of deliverables and milestones.
  • Regularly analyse delivery against plan milestones and KPIs. Routinely update the plan in line with reporting requirements.
  • Provide line management, coaching and mentoring of graduate placements.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in a business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Can demonstrate experience of writing bids / tender responses.
  • Proficient in the use of Information Technology
  • Knowledge of the ship building industry and the National Shipbuilding Strategy would be desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of processes and working practices across Naval Marine would be desirable.
  • Exhibits a consultative manner and excellent people skills with the confidence to interact with people at all levels
  • Demonstrate business improvement and process management skills to support transition to operations or in change situations
  • Awareness and understanding of commercial drivers and general business finance.
  • Demonstrates initiative at all times with a pro-active / forward-thinking approach
  • Is Confident, creative, independent, patient and flexible, adapting easily to changed priorities.
