Backup and Recovery Architect (Backup, Financial Services, Infrastructure) - Swindon - 4 Months

My client, a large technology and outsourcing organisation are looking for 2 Backup and Recovery Architects to join them in Swindon. The role will be working closely with a Financial Services customer on an initial 4 month contract with a view to extend. The role can offer from £500-£575 per day.

Role Background:

  • You will be responsible for investigating old and legacy tape backups to assess whether they are still viable. From that make recommendations to be provided for systems with issues and to migrate away from physical tape to reduce operational risk.
  • You will also be tasked with investigating core business services back up and restore requirements and procedures e.g. "Bare Metal Restore" and validate whether they have been tested.
  • Work closely with the client and customer to develop an ongoing process and ensure this becomes embedded within the customer.
  • As part of the role you will also work closely with the Disaster Recovery team and provide them with the outline of a regular testing schedule.
  • Investigate the ability to restore data during a major incident through ensuring the correct coverage of DB files and application elements.

Required Skills:

  • Candidates should be well versed with the backup and recovery of large scale infrastructure.
  • Prior experience across a range of platforms including; SoR, SoE (Digital and Legacy) e.g. Wintel, Unisys and SAP.
  • Any exposure to Netback would be beneficial.
  • Any prior experience working within a Banking environment or in financial services would be of interest.
  • Candidates should also be eligible and willing to undergo a background check prior to going on site.
