A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Aviation General Manager within a leading support services organisation based in Anglesey, North Wales. The General Manager will provide leadership, direction, management and motivation to the relevant contract, acting as lead and POC for all UKMA operations at RAF Valley, Anglesey.

The organisation are looking for a dynamic, accomplished and technically credible individual to maintain relationships and management of the Aviation contract.

  • Delivery of aircraft and equipment availability targets for the Hawk and Adour contracts
  • Leading through personal example, a robust safety culture that maximises open reporting, drives down Accident Frequency Rates and ensures the buy-in of all staff.
  • Responsibility for developing, forecasting, controlling and reporting against a multi-million pound budgets.
  • Developing and maintaining productive and trusting relationships at a senior level with the prime contractor.
  • Leading technical managers in the provision of aircraft, engine and component maintenance at multi-site locations in accordance with Mil Part 145 regulations.
  • Management of quality and safety management systems in an Air environment to drive continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Management of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of engineering managers, logisticians, HR, Health and Safety, technicians, administrators and contract managers.
  • Management and future planning for the direction and retention of personnel capability to retain SQEP in a regulatory and safety critical environment.
  • Directing and implementing business process improvements to maximise aircraft availability and optimise resources.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Aviation background and experience
  • Extensive Senior Management experience managing the requirements and directing the deliverables of a MOD technical availability contract.
  • Forecasting, control and reporting of a multi-million pound budget.
  • Previous senior management authority for the control and delivery of continuing airworthiness engineering and maintaining senior relationships with a customer and user community stakeholders.
  • Fully conversant with MAA MRP for the delivery and sustainment of a Mil Part 145 approval.
  • Clear understanding of the roles and authority of CAMSS and TAA functions, and the mechanisms for delivering information to them.
  • Knowledgeable in the role of CAMOs and their responsibility for continuing airworthiness management.
  • Understanding of the planning, scheduling and delivery of aviation technical training.
  • Extensive experience of managing/balancing diverse stakeholder priorities and agendas.
  • Project Management - recognised qualification is desirable
  • Knowledge of Part 147 accreditation and delivery desirable.
  • Experience in a DE&S aircraft platform project team and/or structural integrity is desirable.
  • An understanding of how many diverse outputs contribute to aircraft availability.
