The Test Analyst will be part of the ISS Transition Team delivering testing service on the quality and readiness of the product planned for implementation. The role holder is expected to work across IT and other departments to deliver a testing service to clients and project stakeholders.

  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES:
  • Carry out functional and non-functional testing on IT Systems for scheduled releases and designated projects
  • Create test plans and test schedules at the beginning of a project start-up
  • Work with development teams, business analysts and project managers to ensure appropriate tests are defined and developed to fit with client requirements
  • Responsible for the maintenance of test assets e.g. plans, acceptance criteria, scripts and test data
  • Perform automation testing tasks as required
  • Responsible for the build and execution of manual and automated test scripts
  • Maintenance of a Test Script Catalogue
  • Assist in writing Regression test scripts to implement as part of automated continuous integration test suite
  • Collaborate with the Development Teams to ensure that requirements are understood, including recommendations with regards to test scope, approach and effort.
  • Responsible for communication of testing status progress against plans, taking appropriate actions where/if necessary
  • Responsible for tracking and managing the status of defects through to successful closure
  • Responsible for client and user engagement in defect retesting and user acceptance validation
  • Carry out any other test activities as and when required, i.e. regression testing, performance testing
  • Understand the test strategy and approach as set out by the quality team
  • Supporting the introduction of and using different test approaches as appropriate
  • Act as a Test Lead for minor projects with support from the wider Test Team
  • Identify improvements to the process and assist in their implementation.

Knowledge:

a) Essential:
  • Knowledge of Industry Practices of one of the following: HR, Finance, Payroll, Procurement
  • Knowledge of Software Testing practices and principles

b) Desirable:
  • Oracle eBusiness Suite Release 12.1.3
  • Formal test approaches
  • Manual and Automated test execution
  • User Acceptance Test execution
  • Test management tools (e.g. HP Quality Centre, TestWave)
  • Understanding of Project Management Practices

Skills and Abilities:

a) Essential:
  • Experience in using programming languages (preferably JAVA, VB, SQL)
  • Ability to review and create manual test scripts in the allocated subject areas
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on software projects
  • Ability to work in a structured manner and in line with operating standards such as those associated with defect management
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation
  • Ability to work flexibly to cope with the demands of on-going support of a high profile, complex system
  • Good listener and communicator
  • Strong analytical skills as required for incident solving and problem solving
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Pro-active and ability to work without detailed supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritise effectively. An aptitude for knowing when issues need escalating
  • Ability to develop new skills quickly




b) Desirable:
  • Experience of defect management including raising, following up and resolving defects
  • Experience of working with a large user base
  • Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM environment
  • Test automation (specifically creating and running automated test scripts)
  • Good understanding of agile processes and the implications of these for the testing discipline
  • Project management experience (as lead or project member)
