Role Purpose

We're looking for a enthusiastic graduate with some commercial experience to join an established, highly skilled and dynamic team. You will be involved in the design, development and maintenance of software applications to support the delivery of the Group IT Project Portfolio. Working with a wide range of technologies such as Java, C++ & C# you will support application development to provide next generation capability across a number of exciting key programmes of work, supporting our largest Defence customers worldwide. You will have the opportunity to utilize our training plan and collaborate with industry experts to further support your professional development.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that developed and maintained applications perform reliably to meet the customer's functional needs and other requirements as defined in the application's project management or maintenance plan.
  • Ensure that the project documentation is produced and maintained to the level defined in the application's project management or maintenance plan.
  • Ensure that development is executed to the standard defined in the application's project management or maintenance plan.
  • Ensure that other members of the department have sufficient knowledge of the applications to provide cover for the person's absence.
  • Provide technical assistance to other team members, as and when required.
  • Work within existing safety and quality standards.

Key Capabilities

  • Some knowledge of Microsoft technologies and their application.
  • The awareness of the full software development life-cycle from requirements capture to delivery and support
  • Good interpersonal skills for team-working and working with customers.
  • The ability to determine a customer's real needs and assist in selecting the most appropriate solution.
  • Good discipline in the application of software practices and quality control.
  • Good written and oral communications skills, including presentation skills.
