Assistant Reporting Accountant


£30,000 - £35,000 DOE

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Reporting Accountant to work on a new Permanent opportunity for a FTSE100 engineering and support services business, working out of HMS Collingwood in Fareham.

The organisation are the UKs leading provider of engineering support solutions to the MoD and Armed Forces as well as being market specialist's within other industries such as construction, energy, marine technology, emergency services, network engineering and training. Reporting to the Senior Reporting Accountant you will assist with all aspects of the Sea Business Unit's Financial & Statutory reporting.

Key outputs/deliverables will be:

To support the month end and quarterly accounting and reporting processes for Sea Training, to ensure that Sector, Group and local requirements are met and delivered to schedule, and to support delivery of the external reporting obligations of the business unit.

  • Preparation of full reporting submissions in BPC (the group consolidation tool), including monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
  • Control of Excel models to support group submissions
  • Analysis of monthly working capital and operating cash performance
  • Year-end audit reporting, tax reporting and any other required sector and group reporting
  • Support of local and parent company audits
  • Preparation of statutory accounts in compliance with relevant UK GAAP
  • Preparation of Office of National statistics returns
  • Weekly short term cashflow forecasting
  • Preparation and load of budgets and forecasts to SAP
  • Intercompany reconciliations and agreements
  • The set-up of new projects, and the administration of existing projects, in SAP
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation - Monitoring & Compliance
  • CIS returns
  • Ad-hoc reporting
  • Quarterly update of budgets and forecasts in SAP
  • Weekly cash forecasts and reporting
  • Analysis of monthly cash performance

Technical Experience, Qualifications & Skills required

  • Part Qualified CIMA/ACCA, actively progressing to qualified status
  • Sound technical knowledge, of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Resilient and proactive
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, proficient in Excel
  • Experience of SAP Financial Accounting and Project Systems is desirable
  • Driving Licence
  • Strong communicator
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and under own initiative
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
