Assistant Project Manager- FTSE 250 Organisation - £Competitive + Exceptional career progression.

I am recruiting a Assistant Project Manager on behalf of a FTSE 250 Engineering Organisation. This particular role functions within their nuclear business and will see you involved with numerous projects with key clients across the UK.

The successful Assistant Project Manager will provide project management and control skills within the framework of an approved management system, delivering defined small projects/work packages and project tasks of varying complexity and risk. Working on behalf of the Senior Project Manager or Project Manager you will gradually pick up more responsibility and look to progress your career through the business.

Main Purpose of Role

  • Delivery of defined small projects/work packages and project tasks of varying complexity and risk to time, cost and QEH&S targets in compliance with the company Management System or an agreed Joint Venture/Partnership Management System
  • To support and promote the principles, processes and culture that underpin company accreditation for IAMM and ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Assists in ensuring the Health, Safety and Welfare of all team members and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
  • Actively promote environmental awareness/considerations and sustainability through the small projects/work packages and project tasks delivery cycle
  • Working with commercial representatives ensuring that all small projects/work packages and project tasks satisfy all businesses commercial requirements
  • To lead by example and champion the principles as set out by the organisation and to foster and encourage a safety first working culture
  • Strategic customer and stakeholder management externally and internally within the business consistent with the overall strategy of the business and delivery of component programmes and projects
  • Contributes to the process of capturing, analysing, implementing and validating requirements for small projects/work packages and project tasks
  • Contributes to the leadership, management and governance of the overall project by being accountable for small projects/work packages and project tasks meeting specified requirements
  • Able to contribute to the development of a project risk and opportunity plan, can identify project risks for small projects/work packages/tasks undertaken

Applicants will be/have knowledge of:

  • Degree level qualification or HND or HNC preferred; minimum level entry level L3 NVQ/Engineering Qualification OND or ONC in an Engineering Discipline
  • Experience as a Project Assistant or Technical lead
  • Able to demonstrate experience across some parts of the project lifecycle with a demonstrable understanding of the whole project life cycle
  • Engineering background in an appropriate sector, process engineering, oil & gas or civil engineering; nuclear preferable.
  • Experience in managing single discipline projects
  • Experience of various forms of contract (e.g. NEC).
  • Experience of managing costs and project budgets
