Great position open for a Assistant Head of Engineering with background in leading engineering teams across across Power, Rail and Senso product lines. This will be a permanent position based in Rugeley with competitive rates on offer as well as benefits.

Role Purpose:

The correct candidate will be a senior hire for the company and part of our senior engineering Team with responsibility for building and managing a multidisciplinary engineering team across three distinct product lines (Power, Rail, sensors & Signature Management).

Key skills:

  • Demonstrable ability to motivate and lead large multi-disciplinary technical teams in development of a range of products and/or technologies
  • Ability to manage through systems and a strong advocate of process compliance
  • Experience of leading innovation and development as well as new product introduction (NPI) 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organised, robust, self-motivated team player
  • Experience of balancing varying, conflicting and dynamic business priorities to ensure continued business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of multi-disciplined Engineers, Scientists and Engineering Managers dedicated to the delivery of high integrity niche power and electronic systems, setting exemplary standards for all process technical work and ways of working.
  • To recruit, select, develop and train employees to meet the present and future resourcing demands of the business and to maintain and develop the core competencies required for the future strategy of the business.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching as required.
  • Support Capability Leads in developing induction plans for new starters in line with the Engineering Competency Framework.
  • Take on key project delivery roles to ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner whilst using best practice solutions.
  • Take on accountability for ensuring processes are followed in the delivery of products and programmes.
  • Act as advisor on legislative, compliance and process queries.
  • Act as senior representative for customer interfaces.
  • Enhance competitiveness through continual improvement of functional processes and adoption of best practices
  • Lead and provide guidance to our engineering and project teams with particular reference to new programs and concept design activities, ensuring understanding and interpretation of process and technical risk management.
  • Assist in developing the Company's in-house systems design capability.
  • Apply system engineering principles and know-how to the development of new and adapted products.
