The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Armourer/Gun Fitter to join a world leader in Defence Technology & Security, within their Engineering & Operations business.


  • Undertake examination, inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul of a wide range of Large Calibre Weapons (Ordnance) and associated weapon mountings in accordance with the Relevant Technical Standards.
  • To investigate and report, weapon and mounting defects.
  • To ensure all weapon history documentation and the company public store account is maintained and to ensure that the security of weapons maintained at all times.
  • Read engineering drawings and carryout weapon modifications when tasked.
  • To ensure all aspects of Health & Safety requirements are observed and applied.
  • Stocktaking and material accountability for items supplied.


  • An Artificer Weapons (Large Calibre) or a recognised Military Qualified Large Calibre Gun Fitter/Armament Technician trained and certified to REME Class 1 level or equivalent.
  • BTEC level 3 in an engineering discipline.
  • Have wide technical knowledge of Ordnance, operation and principles.
  • Must be experienced and competent maintainer of Large Calibre Weapons (Ordnance).
  • Must be experienced and competent in the inspection and examination of Ordnance and their ancillaries.
  • Must be an experienced user of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding and ability to transact with weapons and associated ancillary's in accordance with Section 5 and RFD regulations.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team and to work unsupervised to strict deadlines.
  • Security awareness and ability to keep accurate data of weapon transactions both in and out of the department.
  • Must be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must have a UK Driving License

Security Clearance

It is desirable that you hold current MOD security clearance to SC level. If you do not, you will be put through this prior to your start date.
