Our Client is looking for a Architect (Cloud Application Transaction) (SC CLEARED) to join their team in Newcastle on an initial 3 month contract

Security clearance is required for this post.

Essential Skills

  • A team player with a 'can do' attitude that relishes working flexibly in a fast-moving / pressurised environment with a keen willingness to learn and take ownership and responsibility. Ability to manage a number of activities concurrently, demonstrating good time management and prioritisation skills, as well as be willing to help others
  • Use interpersonal skills to work with senior managers (both on client and account team), suppliers, eds and architect groups to deal with/ articulate issues/solutions and also face off to architects within HMPS on regular basis
  • At least 7 years' experience of creation of proposals and solutions
  • At least 7 years' experience of creation of costings and estimates
  • At least 7 years' experience of creation of architectures and high level designs
  • Confident in Cloud Paltform-
    • OS: Solaris, Windows Server (2003 / 2008), HPUX, VMWare virtualisation, Redhat Linux
    • Network: Cisco and HP Network switches; Cisco and F5 Load balancers; Cisco GSS
    • Enterprise applications: Business Objects; Business Objects Data Integrator; Tibco; Oracle forms / weblogic; Oracle database; Oracle APEX
    • Monitoring - HP BSM, HP OM, HP RUM

  • Understanding and experience of root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication (written & oral) with exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to discuss technical issues at the appropriate level for the target audience
  • Problem investigation and leading resolution
  • Broad understanding of Cloud Hosting solutions
  • Governance contribution/partaking/reviews, document reviews,
  • Migration planning
  • Deployment planning
  • Implementation planning
  • Solutions using predominately Oracle, Redhat Linux hosted on Cloud
  • Understanding of networks
  • TOGAF certification

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, approve and prioritise requests for the transition of major Client applications to Azure Cloud Platfowm
  • Have a good level of knowledge of the following technology stack, specifically in relation to Cloud Hosting solutions:
  • OS: Solaris, Windows Server (2003 / 2008), HPUX, VMWare virtualisation, Redhat Linux
  • Network: Cisco and HP Network switches; Cisco and F5 Load balancers; Cisco GSS
  • Enterprise applications: Business Objects; Business Objects Data Integrator; Tibco; Oracle forms / weblogic; Oracle database; Oracle APEX
  • Knowledge monitoring tools
  • Involvement in Disaster recovery planning providing advice and guidance on technical aspects.
  • Provide technical expertise in discussions and negotiations with other parties, including HP, customers and suppliers.
  • Provide technical leadership
  • Act as technical escalation point for the Project Manager.
  • Participate in development and ongoing operation of technology project governance and change control
  • Participate in the creation/updates of technical policy, including assessment of new and emerging technologies
  • Contribute to the creation of road maps for the Programme
  • Provide impact assessments for new proposals and projects on the current environment
  • Provide guidance and work with business analysts to identify implementation approaches
