Analytical Science & Technology Senior Chemist

SK biotek Ireland, is seeking to recruit an Analytical Science and Technology Senior Chemist, on a permanent basis.

This position is based at the Swords Manufacturing Campus in Dublin, Ireland.

  • The Analytical Science and Technology (AS&T) group, a sub-department of the Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) department is responsible for the analytical development, validation, technology transfer and qualification of new drug candidates at development, clinical and commercial scale to both SK biotek Ireland and also to SK biotek network. The AS&T group also provide technical support for existing processes site.
  • The AS&T Senior Chemist will be responsible for providing strong scientific technical leadership for all aspects of new and existing analytical method development, analytical validation, technology transfer, analytical performance monitoring, and analytical troubleshooting for small molecules.
  • Technical expertise should include demonstrated analytical method development to support process identification, development & optimization.


  • Analytical Method Development of novel compounds to support drug discovery.
  • Validation of Analytical Methodology to support Clinical and Commercial manufacture of starting materials, intermediates & API.
  • Technical Transfer of analytical methodology to support both SK biotek and customer needs.
  • Management of Analytical Qualification projects and engage with external stakeholders to support successful qualification, manufacture and release of drug substance.
  • Provision of technical support and oversight to the manufacture of APIs and Intermediates manufactured at the Swords Campus.
  • Providing technical guidance in the understanding of root causes for out of trend or out of specification laboratory results or deviations.

Required Key Skills and Experience:

  • PhD or MSc in Analytical Chemistry or other related discipline and at least 5 years' experience in the Pharmaceutical industry preferably in a development/validation role.
  • Demonstrated project management and technical leadership capability.
  • Subject Matter Expert in relevant analytical method development, validation, analytical performance monitoring.
  • Demonstrate flexibility & an ability to prioritise objectives from multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and the ability to contribute to and lead in a team based collaborative environment
