Analytical Development Chemist

Job Purpose:

To support Product Development and Commercial Supply by ensuring all raw materials and finished products are tested to agreed schedules. To trouble shoot, develop, validate or transfer analytical test methods to ensure quality and efficacy of the product.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified to a minimum of degree level.
  • At least two years' experience working in a related technical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • To analyse raw materials, in process samples and finished products in a timely & efficient manner.
  • To troubleshoot, develop, transfer and validate robust, sound analytical methods.
  • To ensure that all work carried out is in compliance with the required standards conforming to company, cGxP, SOPs, regulatory regulations and guidelines, safety and environmental guidelines.
  • To complete all batch documentation correctly in order to achieve a high level of customer service and cGMP.
  • To perform additional team tasks as agreed to support effective running of the Business.
  • To identify and make recommendations for improvements as part of a team within or outside the department in order to ensure continuous improvement.
  • To take part in/ lead lab investigations.
  • To support all other on-going laboratory functions & requirements.
  • To liase directly with customers and contract laboratories and attend conference calls as required.
  • To attend internal project review meetings as required.
  • To draft Test Methods, Protocols and Reports.
  • To prepare Submission documentation in support of license applications.

Skills & Behavioural Competencies:

  • Technical report writing is essential
  • Proficient in the use of HPLC & associated problem solving
  • Proficient in dissolution testing
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Strong quality orientation
  • Knowledge & proficiency of Microsoft products including MS Project, Excel, Word & Power-point.
  • Good time management.
  • Strong attention to detail is critical.
  • Demonstrable problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask & work under pressure, coping with more than one conflicting task at once.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written.

  • Reports directly to Analytical Development Team Leader in the R&D group
