As part of a small team the Ammunition Worker is responsible for the safe storage of all Ordnance Munitions and Explosives (OME) stored at our Fort Halstead site. Duties include the transportation of OME on-site, the coordination of OME transport off-site and all associated paperwork.

The role

Carrying out the following actions related to explosive substances and articles:
* Placement into storage;
* Receipt into storage;
* Maintenance of storage conditions;
* Selection, preparation, and dispatch of stored items;
* Auditing stock levels and stock inventories;
* Stock checking;
* Maintaining stock control using the systems provided;
* Loading and unloading of vehicles by others;
* Conducting safety checks on explosives facilities;
* Managing equipment in an explosives environment;
* Explosives safety within own area of responsibility;
* Providing leadership within own area of responsibility including the allocation of tasks and the checking of work done by own team;
* Maintaining own continuous professional development (CPD);
* Providing explosives technical and/or safety advice or guidance to others.


* You must be able to work well as part of a team and under your own initiative;
* Be flexible and adaptable to the many and varied challenges faced by this role;
* Be able to manage a large complex OME inventory.

Key Accountabilities:

* To undertake tasks associated with the safe storage, accounting and transportation of OME;
* Ensure safe systems of work are maintained at all times;
* Supporting the Fort Halstead site in meeting its business goals.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications

* Level 3 NOS ammunition supervisor qualification; or equivalent.
* Knowledge of ER 2014.
* Knowledge of dangerous goods by road, sea and air regulations (ADR/IMDG/IATA).
* Counterbalance forklift licence.
* Excellent communication skills including MS word and excel.
