Role Purpose

The main purpose of the Farnborough-based Algorithm Developer is to determine how to process DAS data in an efficient and effective way such that events of interest can be automatically detected in the data. The role would require the robustness of the approach to be tested and verified in real time - ready for hand over to implementation team.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Work with the research team to understand DAS hardware, software and algorithm requirements
  2. Analyse DAS data and propose processing approaches attributable to specific targeted problems
  3. Test and develop chosen processing approaches
  4. Participate in the gathering and analysis of DAS data from client sites and test facilities within the UK and abroad
  5. Developing and testing a variety of approaches to achieve desired outcomes from DAS data Coding of suitably robust algorithms into real time
  6. Help produce presentations, reports and papers for external and internal consumption
  7. Detailed documentation of work and transfer of results to implementation team

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

  1. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and efficiently
  2. Willingness to learn
  3. Work effectively as part of a geographically distributed team, as well as carry out tasks with care and an attention to detail
  4. Motivated and enthusiastic about signal processing and coding

Experience & Qualifications

  1. A degree in physics, electronic engineering or computer science
  2. Masters in Physics, electronic engineering or computer science
  3. Experience of signal-processing and experimental design
  4. Algorithm development in MATLAB for real time applications
  5. Programming algorithm solutions in C/C++, Java, Python
