3rd Line Systems/Project Engineer - Cheltenham - Permanent - £up to 60k + benefits

You will have a minimum of 3 years commercial experience in a 3rd Line role, working on installations, break fix and maintenance for major brand servers, cloud services, desktops & notebooks.

Responsibilities
Maintaining the reliability of the operating environment, troubleshooting technical problems and supporting the infrastructure. You will also be responsible for the server operations, windows platforms and networks.
The Role

  • Supporting Office 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Skype for Business & OneDrive
  • Installing service packs and critical updates onto Managed Client servers, in and out of hours
  • Managing the delivery & deployment of Microsoft Products (new installs & migrations) including: Active Directory Domains, Office 365, Exchange Online, Group Policy
  • Installation, service, repair & break/fix of DSL & Lease Line Circuits and associated hardware
  • To deliver best practice on call management: diagnosing, trouble-shooting and resolution of IT issues in line with agreed SLA's
  • Installation, service, repair & break/fix of Desktop, Servers & Networking equipment
  • Checking & Monitoring client servers and backups and responding to flagged failures
  • Providing Pre-Sales Solution Design to internal sales and customers
  • Attending customer site for Pre-Sales meetings and onsite support as required
  • IT Systems & Network Auditing to assist the Technical Support Team & Sales Opportunity Identification
  • Configuration of Windows Hosted packages
  • Management of Domain Names, Transfers & DNS Control
  • Managing and installing Server Certificates
  • To be a point of senior technical escalation, providing assistance and mentoring junior members of staff on a wide range of technologies
  • To work out of hours / on call when required (rota system)
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate for this role


Experience & Skills

  • MCSA-Microsoft Windows Server 2012/Office365
  • MCSE- Microsoft Certified Solution Expert
  • MCITP-Microsoft Certified IT Professional
  • ITIL V3 Foundation
  • An excellent working knowledge and commercial experience with Microsoft Servers, ADFS, Azure and Active Directory
  • A very good working knowledge and commercial experience with design, migration and support of Microsoft Infrastructure, Office 365 & Windows 10
  • Excellent Networking Skills/Knowledge of Routers, Firewalls & Switches (Cisco, HP, DrayTek, Sophos, Sonic Wall, Fortinet)
  • Experience with Applications including, AV Products (Sophos etc.), Backup Products (Cloud Veeam), Remote Desktop Services (Microsoft & Citrix), and Virtualisation (Hyper-V/VMware)
