2nd Line Support Engineer

I have partnered with a market leading financial services company who are looking to add a 2nd Line Service Desk Engineer to their growing team.

This will be a customer facing support role where you will be working with end users around the business and along with the support aspect to this role, the successful applicant will be expected to develop skills within software development and automation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor ticketing system and ensure tickets are being resolved quickly and efficiently
  • Assist infrastructure engineers during projects
  • Application and infrastructure support
  • Work on 1st line escalations
  • Develop automation scripts
  • Help with maintenance and support of key infrastructure and business applications

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working in a 2nd line IT support role
  • Experience with Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • Good skills with Window Server 2012, 2016, and Microsoft Exchange
  • Understanding of networks and firewalls
  • Good general IT infrastructure and application support experience
  • Basic skills within software development and automation. Languages used may include Java, MySQL, PowerShell, Bash, or PHP. Willingness to develop skills in automation and an interest in DevOps is essential
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment would be beneficial

Desirable Criteria:

  • Telephony support e.g. Avaya, Cisco Call
  • VMware or Hyper-V
  • Basic Linux/UNIX understanding
