My client based in Edinburgh has an immediate requirement for a 2nd Line Support Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nationally recognised client on an initial 3 month contract, with the possibility of extensions.

Key Skills & Background

Key Activities

  • Daily IT Ticket Monitoring and keeping customers up to date on the status of their issues.
  • Resolve 1st & 2nd line IT support issues that have been transferred from the IT Service Desk, using knowledge gained through training, support documentation and your own personal knowledge.
  • Taking ownership of projects through to completion.
  • Document resolutions and work to prevent future occurrences.

Required Skills

  • ITIL qualified to at least foundation level.
  • Experience within a similar role.
  • Ability to co-ordinate and deliver multiple tasks.
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft products (O/S, Active Directory, Office 365 etc.)
  • Highly motivated to meet team goals and objectives.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in using MS Exchange
  • Degree educated in a relevant subject.
  • Experience supporting various end user platforms (VDI, MS, MacOS, Linux)
  • Understanding of network architecture.
  • Understanding of VMware
  • Experience of installation, configuration and the use of mobile devices.
  • Experience of Troubleshooting typical IT support issues (eg. network connectivity, printer, application installations etc.)
  • IT Security Awareness.
