Test Equipment Design Engineer (Aerospace, Hardware, Software, Electronics). An exciting opportunity with a Major Engineering Company in the Gloucestershire area requiring talented Test Equipment Design Engineers, you will be responsible for specifying, designing, developing, and supplying Test Equipment solutions.. There are a number of positions to fill and candidates with Hardware and/or Software experience are invited to apply.
Responsibilities:
Candidates will be expected to have experience in a number, but not necessarily all of the essential responsibilities.
* Design and development of test equipment hardware and/or software to production standards, complying with all current regulatory and safety requirements.
* Develop the schedule and costs for the hardware and/or software solutions.
* Design and commission software and/or hardware implementation.
* Develop flexible design solutions which are appropriate and scalable to end user requirements.
* Generate a documentation suite for the hardware / software from original requirements through to formal release procedures
* Verification and subsequent pro-active modification, during test equipment and test item integration.
* Re-use of tried and tested functional blocks, coupled with innovative design methodologies where re-use is not appropriate.
* Liaise with project, manufacturing, test equipment, in-service personnel and other stakeholders to capture original and changed requirements.
* Support the integration and commissioning of the hardware with test software and units-under-test.
Key Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience
* Experience of developing hardware and/or software for high integrity electronics/computing equipment.
* An understanding of test philosophies and types of testing employed in the development and release of high integrity products.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* An understanding of regulatory and safety requirements for test systems.
Desired Characteristics:
* Experience of test equipment design, development, and hardware/software integration for Avionics or Aviation Power products.
* Competence in the use Microsoft applications (for example: Excel, Access, Word, Project).
* Knowledge of PC based test architecture (for example PCI and VXI).
* Knowledge of high level software languages, principally Borland C++.
* Ability to deliver solutions on-time, to budget and required quality
* Ability to manage change and obsolescence issues.
* Experience of fault tree analysis and automated test diagnostics would be useful.
