Our financial sector client is currently looking for a Websphere/UNIX specialist to act as Technical Architect on a 6 month contract based in Knutsford, Cheshire.
The successful candidate will be required to work on a major change area in the project. The Technical Architect should have around 5 plus years on IBM Websphere and Enterprise Java based Web Technologies to cover a mix from the following responsibilities as demanded by the project/business :
1. Perform system engineering analysis, design, architecture, installation and deployment (installation and deployment limited to non-production systems)
2. Install, configure and test enterprise software with a very strong hand at UNIX.
3. Sanity Test end-user level functionality and interoperability.
4. Work closely with network administrators, DBA, vendor and application groups, specifically concerning end-user functionality & test requirements
5. Provide detailed documentation of systems application configuration, technical procedures and problem resolutions
6. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a complex system setting.
7. Provide training to support / other staff on server and application maintenance and troubleshooting
8. Implementing tight standards and consistent, comprehensive processes for managing the entire WebSphere engineering life cycle
9. Aiding in resolution of production emergencies and critical situations by performing one or more of the following :
i. evaluating problem severity
ii. Specifying approaches for mitigating customer experience
iii. Specifying approaches for restoring service
iv. performing post-problem resolution, and several associated activities
10. Maximizing the stability of large-scale interconnected WebSphere systems for composite applications, co-existing & interacting with diverse modules/components residing on many platforms under continually changing circumstances :
i. Continuously improve system engineering processes, productivities, and documentation.
ii. Interact with diverse technical teams within the organization to investigate and resolve issues or new developments from end to end.
