Our client is looking for a Server Based Computing Expert (Citrix SME) for a 3 month contract based in London (with travel to Reigate in Surrey).
Role:
The successful applicant will work as part of a global solutions team to design and deploy server infrastructure platforms for existing and prospective clients.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Owning the design of specific technology solutions from high-level and detailed-level designs to deployment and handover to delivery.
Design:
o Design efficient solutions that are operationally cost effective to maintain
o Determine server specifications and infrastructure requirements (such as storage, networks and security etc.)
o Both verbally and in written form articulate solutions and benefits accurately and persuasively reflecting the client's interests or concerns
Implement:
o Fully utilise build automation, remote access deployment
o Fully utilise standard build and repeatable environments (e.g. server SOE builds and standard core platform configurations)
o Produce relevant build and configuration documentation to standards
o Prepare physical environments for deployments
o Issue remediation is key
Transition:
o Complete operational readiness tasks and ensure production acceptance criteria are met
o Complete build and handover documentation for delivery/support (BAU) teams
The applicant will have a solid understanding of:
o Centralised control principles of performance, capacity planning and release management
o Implications of Thin Client on Network QoS, in terms of latency, bandwidth and load balancing
The following are the mandatory requirements of infrastructure based solutions experience for this role:
* Experience in the design, implementation of large scale SBC solutions and platforms with the following technologies:
o Citrix XenApp
o Citrix XenDesktop
o Microsoft Hyper-v
o Windows 7
o Remote Desktop Services
o Appsense
Experience with the following would be beneficial:
Citrix Branch Repeater, Citrix Access Gateway, VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, Citrix XenClient, AppSense Management Suite (basic), Microsoft SQL Server administration, SCOM, SCCM.
The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding/appreciation and experience with the following core infrastructure technologies:
* Microsoft Active Directory 2003/2008 and core Windows services design and configuration
* Server and Desktop Standard Operating Environment
Other skills required:
* The applicant will have a exceptional verbal and communication qualities.
o able to present and communicate technical designs and solutions to peers
o Interact clearly with on-shore project teams
* Exceptional written skills are required for solution documentation creation for both technical and non-technical material.
