
Role Profile
A global consultancy is looking for a Infrastructure Architects to deliver infrastructure solutions in order to meet business requirements while ensuring compliance to (and assisting in definition of) architecture standards and any strategic architecture. Infrastructure Architects are responsible for the technical integrity of a solution or part of a solution, together with associated deliverables, and will be responsible for ensuring the suitability of the solution in the context of a clients environment. Architects must be comfortable with presenting the solution to the client, estimating costs accurately specifically for the solution, leading the design process, acting as the technical point of contact with project management and managing technical risk.
What you will be doing
·Ownership of the technical design and lifecycle for a major infrastructure enhancement or sub system.
·Asessing business requirements and presenting technical recommendations that are in line with the strategic architecture roadmap and best practice.
·You may be required to co-ordinate the activities of others and will be expected to manage the client's expectations and requirements.
·Ensuring business and application requirements can be supported by the technical infrastructure.
·Providing a relevant business case for changes to technical Infrastructure.
·Production of detailed solution architectures that document all proposed changes to the technical architecture.
·Providing input to design and implementation plans, and governance to solution delivery teams.
·Serving as a subject matter expert for specific areas of technical infrastructure (e.g Virtualisation).
What we are looking for
The individual would be expected to cover a significant subset of the following capabilities and skills:
·Requirements analysis and definition.
·Infrastructure solution design, including identifying, documenting and assessing technical options.
·Specification of system components; sizing and costing solution
·A strong background in several of the following at an architectural level:
- Server (Windows Server, Unix, Oracle)
- Desktop (Windows OS, Active Directory, Software/Package deployment)
- Virtualisation (VMWare, Citrix)
- Storage/SANs & Backup/Recovery (HP, Symantec)
- Security
- High Availability/Business Continuity (Clustering, Load balancing, failover)
·Awareness of systems management and operational support tools
·Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
