
The successful candidate as a Production Support Engineer will join the established Broadcast Services team providing high quality proactive maintenance and reactive support to the client's business critical Broadcast Systems. As part of the Broadcast Support function you will be at the cutting edge of the convergence between traditional broadcast and IT cultures.
Primary responsibilities:
*Provide 24/7 re-active support to the systems and services on site at Sky.
*Ensure all issues are logged and reported to high standards.
*Handover at the end of each shift and ensure that internal clients and line management are kept up to date on ongoing work.
*Conduct in-depth root cause analysis and fault finding at the earliest possible opportunity.
*Provide technical advice, guidance and expertise on Sky systems to internal user groups and project staff.
*Represent the department at daily Broadcast stakeholder incident meetings.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience;
*Previous Production support experience in Digital Television Broadcast environment.
*Thorough working knowledge of operating broadcast test and measurement equipment
*Previous experience in a tapeless television environment including tapeless play out and ingest systems
*An understanding of modern transmission and post production systems including camera and studio systems.
*A good understanding of networking for broadcasters.
*An in depth understanding of a broadcast television transmission and production/post production infrastructure.
*Fundamental understanding of Broadcast television standards including SMTPE 259M.
*Experience with Encoding and Compression Systems.
*Fundamental understanding of RF specifically satellite broadcasting.
Additional knowledge and experience also desired;
*Knowledge MPEG/DVB
*Experience with Encoding and Compression Systems.
*Understand application of MPEG over IP.
*Thorough Understanding of DVB and MPEG broadcast standards
*Understand application of MPEG over IP.
*UNIX fundamentals
Shift pattern
Seven days on then 7 days off.
Twelve hour shifts
7am-7pm or 12pm-12am or 8pm-8am
